since i haven't posted in about three months...

I decided to revive this blog with something sentimental and sweet:

s o m e t i m e s
sometimes...
when you cry...
no one sees your tears.
sometimes...
when you are in pain...
no one sees your hurt.
sometimes...
when you are worried...
no one sees your stress.
sometimes...
when you are happy...
no one sees your smile.

but fart!! just one time... and everybody knows!!
gotcha!! you thought it was going to be one of those heart-touching stories! (sweet and stinkin' hilarious!!!!)

gifts

i have the most awesome secret sister. for two weeks in a row, i've received gifts. now, i'm not one who insists that a great friend, sister, or whoever give great, expensive gifts. for me, it's really the thought that counts... how much thought did you put into whatever it is that you're giving? if it's a .99 card, but the sentiment of that card displays thought, hey! that's what i'm talking about. or if it's not even in the form of a gift... if it's time spent... now that's what i'm really talking about! quality time spent.

anyway, last week, i received a coffee table book called sisters. i've seen it in the stores, but never picked it up myself. today i get another one called songs of my people: african americans: a self portrait. loving it! a book full of black and white photos i can gaze at, admire, and full of visual stories i can ingest over and over with my eyes!

what i can't figure out is how my secret sister knows that i have an interest in photography... i really don't recall what i put in my questionaire for the secret sis program... maybe i put it and didn't know.

Don't know why this struck my fancy that Sunday. This was taken in September... can't remember the exact date... whatever day the Emmy Awards were held at the Shrine... See the Shrine in the background... and of course the many remote trucks and their appendages aiming high. A friend and I worked the red carpet... no not as personalities or anything of the sort. But it was fun work, and we got to sit in the stands and watch celebs walk the carpet. I'm not a celeb fanatic, but I do love taking photos... and that was the especially fun part. Can't wait for Oscar Sunday this year. I got some interesting shots last year... Not that great, but interesting. Trying to get them was a learning experience. Speaking of Oscars... I keep forgetting to go to the camera store to price lenses so I can get better shots this year.

fave photos

maybe this will be a photo blog... add that to flickr... i forgot flickr is another blog i have for photos... that makes seven i keep. i admit it gladly that i'm a dork, but dorks run the planet (along with functional drunks), and though i have no such power, i'm happy to be considered dork-ta-fied. This photo was taken in December at the Getty. What a lovely afternoon it was!
